Sugar Free Belgian Waffle Recipe
A good friend of mine helped me to master this delicious recipe. I’d tried making waffles a few times and they ALWAYS stuck to the pan, even when I greased the griddles. So i asked my pal why this might happen, as a chemistry teacher herself she explained it was probably the sugar content in the batter and to try it without. Success! Not only did they not stick to the plates they still tasted incredible. My boys absolutley loved them.
Don’t worry if you think they won’t be as tasty, these definitely are! Just cover with your favourite sweet toppings or keep them savoury with bacon and eggs for a hearty breakfast meal.
Makes about 8 – 10 large waffles. Enough for a family of four with big appetites. If you want to make less just halve the quantity of everything!
Ingredients:
250g plain flour
28g baking powder
4 large eggs
350g milk
150g unsalted butter melted
Pinch of salt
Method:
Pre heat the waffle griddle
Combine all of the ingredients together with a whisk or a blender until smooth.
When the waffle griddle is hot, brush some of the melted butter over the iron plates, then pour in enough batter mixture to cover the dimples.
Close the lid and cook until golden. Roughly 5-8 minutes.
Enjoy fresh with your favourite toppings.
